The Crying Machine: Steve Vai recorded a new version of his hit in collaboration with Roman Miroshnichenko and his father

Famed guitarist Steve Vai has taken a break from a massive world tour to record a new album with the Dutch Metropole Symphony Orchestra and the Danish National Radio Orchestra. The arrangement of one of the tracks - "The Crying Machine" - was created by Steve in collaboration with Roman Miroshnichenko and his father Maxim Miroshnichenko.

“A few years ago we played an unforgettable joint concert with Steve, accompanied by a large symphony orchestra. The only song that did not have an orchestral arrangement was "The Crying Machine". I wanted to rectify the situation and voiced the idea to my father, an experienced arranger. First, the first sketch was made. I showed it to Steve, he "fired up" and approved the idea. This was followed by difficult work, — says Roman. — My part of cooperation was as a proofreader. Also, I made suggestions and changes to the score so that the arrangement would match Vai's style as much as possible. Steve also offered his ideas and at the final stage he made the brass parts a little more intense. He also kindly agreed that I included this composition in my repertoire.

The new arrangement, accompanied by Symphony Orchestra "Camerata Florianópolis", premiered in Brazil at the Rock In Rio festival in front of 90,000 people. Recently, Steve informed Roman that the long-awaited new version has been successfully recorded with an orchestra.

“The only reason I’m recording it is because you gave me that orchestration. Many thanks again my friend!"  thanks Steve warmly.
